SUPPORT

From our National and Provincial Governments, to the venue cities leadership, to the public at large across the region and the nation, PyeongChang 2018 is unified in support for our bid to host the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

The National Government’s support is clearly evidenced by their guaranteeing of financial support for the building of various infrastructure including venues, railroads, expressways and national roads, as well as for any potential shortfalls. It has also vowed to finance 50% of the Paralympic Winter Games budget and provide human resources support at no cost in the areas of security, medical care, and customs and immigration.

Gangwon Province has committed to full-scale administrative and financial support through establishing the Administrative Support Body for PyeongChang 2018. The Provincial Government has also pledged to finance the construction of venues and local roads, and has guaranteed to mobilise a workforce to support the Organising Committee at no cost. Additionally, Gangwon Provincial Council formed the Special Committee for PyeongChang 2018 to support the bid.

The mayors of PyeongChang and the venue cities Gangneung and Jeongseon have joined the Bid Committee as members in support of the bid, and have agreed to share the construction cost of new venues and lend support to the Organising Committee by mobilising a workforce at no cost.

Finally, the public at large backs our bid, with a recent public survey indicating that 93.4% of residents in PyeongChang City, 93% of residents in the vicinity of PyeongChang and 91.4% of Koreans across the nation are in support.
