Yang Ho Cho
Chairman and CEO, 2018 PyeongChang Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Bid Committee

The 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games Bid Committee is chaired by Mr. Yang Ho Cho. Mr. Cho brings with him an extensive background in the sponsorship and promotion of sport. As Chairman and CEO of Korean Air, Mr. Cho continues to build upon a tradition of developing company-based sport sponsorship programs that he started more than 20 years ago, including positioning the organization as the official airline for the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics, 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup and 2002 Busan Asian Games.

Mr. Cho’s involvement in sport promotions goes beyond his professional status. In July 2008, he became the 20th Chairman of the Korea Table Tennis Association and has also been the East Asia Regional Vice President of the Asia Table Tennis Union since November 2009. Prior to his current position, Mr. Cho was an active advisory member for the 2014 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games Bid Committee, and became a member of the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) in July 2009. In February 2010, he was appointed as an official ambassador for the Peace and Sport Foundation, becoming the first and only ambassador from Asia.

Mr. Cho has an MBA from USC and a Doctoral degree in business administration from Inha University. He began working at Korean Air in 1974 and was named Chairman and CEO in April 1999.
