The PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Bid Committee was established on September 14, 2009 as a non-profit organisation and consists of members from various sectors including the National Government, all levels of local governments, the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC), the Korean Paralympic Committee (KPC) and private businesses.
The Bid Committee, which is fully assisted by the Government Support Committee, includes an Advisory Group and specialised committees in technical affairs, finance, athletes and the environment that are comprised of experts from those fields. Its professional Working Group is responsible for application file preparation in each area. The Bid Committee’s Secretariat consists of public servants from the National Government and provincial governments, staff from the KOC and private businesses, and winter sports experts recruited by the Bid Committee. Each department will be responsible for dual planning of both the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to ensure continuity and parity between the two events.
